Come up to Powderhorn Friday afternoons and race your colleagues & friends! The Grand Valley Race League is a business-oriented event that is all about having fun in a low pressure environment. Teams can be registered for up to 10 racers for $500. Extra team racers can be added for a $40 additional fee. The proceeds go toward supporting the Powderhorn Racing Club youth programs such as Buddy Werner, YSL (Youth Ski League) & USSA (United States Ski & Snowboard Association) premiere racing.
We set up a dual slalom type course so you can race head to head but ultimately it is the fastest of the 2 runs combined who scores best. You can make as many runs as you can get in the time available so if you make a mistake or learn how to go faster you can go back and do it again! The scoring system is a NASTAR handicap where we take into account age, discipline (Alpine Ski, Snowboard or Telemark) & Gender so everyone is competing on a level playing field. In fact it is very often that a more mature racer takes the top spot at our races, up there with the young bucks.
On the race dates the course is open for inspection at 12:00 Noon. Racing runs from 1-3pm. Awards around 3:30-4:30 pm upstairs over in the Slopeside on the other side of the chair lift.
